Suspect in September killing arrested
The suspect in a Portland homicide was arrested in Eugene during a traffic stop on Friday, Jan. 19 .
Lorenzo L. Jones, 44, was lodged in the Multnomah County jail on a warrant for Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Jones is accused of shooting Wilbert Butler, 27, on Sept. 17. According to police, Butler was found wounded in the 3600 block of Southest 28th Avenue and died after being rushed to the hospital.
The early morning shooting took place within two blocks of Cleveland High School. Although some bullets struck a nearby apartment building, no one else was injured in the shooting.
A warrant for Jones' arrest was issued based on information learned in the investigation.
