Woman killed by hit-and-run driver Thursday
A female pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in outer East Portland early Thursday.
The name of the victim was not immediately released. No suspect vehicle information was released, either.
According to police, at 12:51 a.m. on Feb. 1, East Precinct officers responded to the report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street.
When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene, they located a woman laying in the roadway suffering from catastrophic injuries. Medical personnel determined the woman was deceased.
Based on preliminary information, officers believe the woman used the cross-walk on the east side of Southeast 148th Avenue. She was reportedly crossing northbound and had a walk signal when she was struck by a vehicle.
The driver and vehicle that struck the women left the scene. Officers searched for the vehicle, but did not immediately located it.
The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team responded to the area and continued the investigation.
