Officer injured in early morning collision
A Portland police officer was injured and a 27-year-old man was taken into custody after an early Friday morning crash involving a marked patrol car on Southeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Police said a Central Precinct officer was treated and released from a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. The officer's name has not been released.
Shelby A. Ratliff was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of driving under the influence of marijuana and reckless driving.
The crash happened at about 1:28 a.m. Friday, April 13, as the police officer drove his marked patrol car east on Southeast Clay Street. When the officer's vehicle entered the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard intersection, a Jeep Liberty driven by Ratliff allegedly went through a red light and collided with the patrol car.
Ratliff was not injured in the crash.
