Teenage girl bystander shot in Gresham
A teenage girl who was sitting outside her apartment complex talking with friends was struck by a bullet fired blocks away during an argument between two men Saturday night, Gresham police said.
The girl, who is about 16 or 17, was shot in the stomach in the 900 block of Northeast 183rd Avenue around 10 p.m. She was rushed to the hospital.
The victim's name and condition was not immediately released, although she is expected to survive.
The argument between the men happened blocks away, but it escalated to gunfire, police said. One of the men fired a gun. That bullet traveled two blocks and hit the girl.
No suspects were immediately identified and the Gang Enforcement Team is investigating.
