Stray bullet wounds boy in Cully shooting
A young boy playing in his backyard was wounded by a stray bullet during a Thursday night shooting in the Cully neighborhood.
Portland police said the boy was being treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound. The boy's name has not been released. Police said his injuries were non-life-threatening.
The city's Gang Enforcement Team is investigating the shooting, which happened at about 7:49 p.m., July 5, in the 5200 block of Northeast 73rd Avenue.
Witnesses told North Precinct officers that the shooting happened after an argument between two men. Two cars sped away after the shooting, witnesses said.
Police said it was the 62nd incident investigated by the Gang Enforcement Team this year.
