Curtis Clint Williams, 64, was found guilty of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, unlawful sexual penetration and sexual abuse by a jury of his peers on June 26.

His sentence was announced on Tuesday, July 10.

"Mr. Williams has a pattern of violence and has shown he does not perform well when out of custody and while on supervision," said Senior Deputy District Attorney Amity Girt in a news release. "In fact, he has been returned to prison in the past for assaultive behavior."

"Additionally, the rape in which Mr. Williams is being sentenced for occurred he was on supervision for a 1985 rape," Girt continued.

Williams raped and sexually abused a 19-year-old woman inside the Alder Hotel Apartments in downtown Portland on September 30, 2011. The woman is not a native English speaker and had never met Williams before the incident.

Williams had spent the last two years shuffling between "Portland Rescue Mission and Tent City," according to court documents. He was unemployed and surviving off a monthly disability check and food stamps.

Williams was charged with rape in Texas in 1981, but there was no disposition in the case, according to court docs. He was convicted of rape in 1985.

The medical kit used in this case was processed as part of the Sexual Assault Kit Backlog Elimination Project, and was the first case associated with this project to go to trial in Multnomah County.

Alder Hotel Apartments is owned by Central City Concern.
