Terry Hickman, 58, was arrested after police began an investigation on Lombard Street.

PPB PHOTO - Dallas BoydMultnomah County prosecutors say a woman was murdered by a man who "choked" her until she stopped breathing inside his van in Portland.

A probable cause document says nothing more about the relationship between 58-year-old Terry Dean Hickman and his alleged victim, Dallas Ann Boyd.

Boyd, 29, was the mother of a two-year-old child and had previously been living in Troutdale in a homeless camp, according to court records.

Her body was found after Hickman discussed the alleged murder with a friend, who flagged down North Precinct officers patrolling the 5300 block of North Lombard Street on Friday, July 20 around 3:15 p.m.

Hickman has been convicted of nine felonies, six misdemeanors and 15 parole violations, according to court records, including third-degree assault, possession of a controlled substance, first-degree robbery and reckless driving.

Hickman was born in Mississippi, though his criminal record in Oregon dates back to 1987. Police say he declined to be interviewed but requested and has received access to a court-appointed lawyer.

He is charged with murder.
