Homeless man assaulted while sleeping in Glenhaven Park
Portland Police say a man asleep in a park suffered "severe physical injuries" after he was apparently attacked by an unknown assailant.
East Precinct officers responded to Glenhaven Park, 7900 N.E. Siskiyou St., around 3:46 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30 in the Madison South neighborhood, according to a news release.
They arrived and found the male victim "breathing and conscious." Their response was apparently delayed due to low lighting and "thick fog" in the area.
Police say the victim, who does not have a home, was able to call 9-1-1 after the assault by an unknown suspect.
Police say they searched the area but did not find "any evidence of a crime."
The victim was transported to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of "serious" physical injuries.
The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call 503-823-0479.
