The recommendation came as part of the former president's second round of midterm picks.

Former U.S. President Barack Obama has endorsed Brown as she runs for her final term as governor of Oregon. She faces Republican challenger Knute Buehler and Independent candidate Patrick Starnes.

"I'm honored to receive @BarackObama official endorsement today," Brown wrote on Twitter. "I've never stopped fighting for Oregonians -- to protect healthcare and support Oregon schools, and I won't stop now."

The 44th President of the United States released a list of more than 100 endorsements on Monday, Oct. 1. Brown was the only Oregon candidate to get the nod.

"Today, I'm proud to endorse even more Democratic candidates who aren't just running against something, but for something—to expand opportunity for all of us and to restore dignity, honor, and compassion to public service. They deserve your vote," Obama wrote on Twitter.

National political analysts and several polls currently show the Oregon governor's race as a neck-and-neck heat that's way too close to call.
