ATF: Federal fugitive committed suicide
A federal fugitive killed himself Saturday in Portland to avoid being arrested, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The fugitive is identified as Damon Davis, 36, of Modesto, Calif.
According to ATF, Davis killed himself as agents were serving federal search and arrest warrants at 3209 SE 174th Ave. on Nov. 3. Law enforcement medics provided aid to Davis on the scene and he was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, ATF says.
A death investigation was conducted by the Oregon State Medical Examiner's office, which determined it was a suicide.
Davis, a convicted felon, was wanted by federal law enforcement for: felon in possession of a firearm; possession of a stolen firearm; possession of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime; possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
