Pedestrian dies in NE Marine Drive collision
A pedestrian died early Tuesday morning on Northeast Marine Drive after being struck by a semi-truck.
Portland police said the collision happened at about 4:55 a.m. Nov. 20, in the 18200 block of Northeast Marine Drive. Police and emergency responders said the pedestrian died at the scene.
The person's name has not been released. It was Portland's 34th traffic fatality this year.
According to police, the driver of a semi-truck was traveling west on Northeast Marine Drive when he struck a pedestrian. After hitting the pedestrian, the driver stopped and called emergency dispatchers. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Northeast Marine Drive is closed between 158th and 185th avenues during the investigation.
