Forget that table for one. WalletHub reports that Portland, Oregon is the 4th best city to be single

Portland's singletons have reason to rejoice — they live in one of the best cities for dating, according to a new study.

Portland occupies the No. 4 spot in a new ranking of 180 major U.S. cities that are best for singles, according to experts with personal finance website Wallet Hub. Atlanta scored the first berth, with Denver and San Francisco rounding out the top three.

Brownsville, Texas, earned last place.

So what makes the Portland area such an appealing place for bachelors and bachelorettes? For starters, Portland has the fifth most nightlife options per capita, according to Wallet Hub. The downside is that Portland's average beer and wine prices are some of the highest in the nation.

If you're feeling lonely, you're not alone. About 45 percent of American adults are unmarried — though many of those people are presumably dating or in committed relationships. Rose City millennials may want to go dutch, however, as the average cost of a date is now $102.32, Wallet Hub estimates.

If you're still having trouble checking out of Heartbreak Hotel, here's a little more advice:

"Similarity is a powerful predictor of attraction, so you want to live in a city where a lot of people who enjoy doing the same kinds of things you do also live," advises Stephen Yoshimura, a researcher who focuses on interpersonal relationships. "So look for places that offer a wealth of activities that you most enjoy, because the other people who live there will probably be a lot like you."
