Portland Police responded to the Madison South neighborhood on Saturday, Dec. 29 around 3 a.m.

MCSO PHOTO - Michael ThomasPortland Police have arrested a suspect after two men suffered "multiple stab wounds" at an apartment complex.

East Precinct officers rushed to the complex, located at 8231 N.E. Broadway, around 2:42 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29.

Witnesses at the scene told police the suspect was inside a nearby apartment. EMTs provided medical care to both male victims, who were taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of "serious but non-life-threatening injuries."

Police say they found the knife used in the assault and also located other evidence.

Michael John Thomas, 53, faces two charges of second-degree assault. He remains in custody at the downtown jail at this time.

"Investigators do not believe there was a danger posed to the public in relation to this incident," authorities say.
