Motorcyclist dies from Dec. 29 crash injuries
A motorcyclist who was critically injured in a crash on I-205 on Dec. 29 has died of his injuries at a Portland hospital.
Police have identifed the victim as Jimmie O. Luff, 48, of Tacoma, Washington.
This Major Crash Team investigation is on-going. There have been no arrests or citations issued in relation to the investigation.
Luff's death was the 36th traffic fatality of 2018 in Portland. That is nine fewer than the collision-related deaths in the city in 2017.
Investigators believe Luff was traveling northbound on Interstate 205 when he rear-ended a vehicle. He was thrown from his motorcycle and hit by multiple vehicles.
East Precinct officers responded to northbound Interstate 205 at exit 22 just north of Northeast Glisan Street at 9:43 p.m. on Dec. 29. When officers and emergency medical responders arrived at the scene, they found an adult male lying on the roadway suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of what were believed to be life-threatening injuries.
