Portland man killed by car while walking on Highway 97
Oregon State Police say a local man was killed while walking on the lanes of Highway 97 near the rural village of Chemult in Klamath County.
David Ralphs-Thomason, a 37-year-old Portland resident, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by a Hyundai Sonata around 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
The Sonata was traveling northbound on Highway 97 near milepost 204 when it struck the pedestrian, who was "in the northbound lane of travel," according to a news release.
The driver of the Sonata was identified as 22-year-old Spokane resident Caleb Robichaud.
