State adds 11,000 jobs in January
Oregon added about 11,000 jobs in January, as the state's unemployment rate held steady at 4.3 percent.
Oregon Employment Department officials said construction, manufacturing, retail trade, health care and private educational services added jobs in January. Manufacturing added 2,500 jobs. Construction added 1,800. Retail trade added 1,600. Professional and business services added 1,400. Health care and social assistance added 1,400. Private educational services added 1,000.
The employment department said January's job gains came after the state lost about 1,700 jobs in December.
Oregon's unemployment rate has ranged between 4 percent and 4.3 percent since December 2016.
