'Erratic' man stabs officer near Portland school
Police arrested a man who stabbed a sergeant Wednesday near a middle school in Southeast Portland.
The names of the sergeant and suspect were not immediately released. The sergeant was treated for a minor injury.
According to police, multiple people called to report a person who was yelling and taking his clothes off near Hosford Middle School in the 2300 block of Southeast 28th Place.
School officials locked down the campus. Officers said the man was armed with a hatchet and a knife. When police arrived, he charged at them. As he was being arrested, the man stabbed a sergeant in the hand with a knife.
Authorities found and seized two knives, a hatchet and a multi-tool from the suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
