Man arrested at shopping center after apartment stabbing
A long-time resident is behind bars after police arrested him for a stabbing in Southeast Portland.
Ricky Marques Coley, 42, was allegedly tracked by police to a shopping center at the corner of Southeast 174th Avenue and Powell Street after leaving the scene, according to a news release.
The incident began after East Precinct officers responded to an apartment complex in the 17200 block of Southeast Naegeli Drive, where they located a wounded person in the complex's parking lot. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening "knife injury."
Police claim they soon spotted Coley's car driving through the shopping center. He is charged with second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
Court documents specify that Coley allegedly stabbed his wife's daughter's boyfriend. The man has since been released from the hospital.
Coley is described in court documents as being in compliance with the Sex Offender unit. He remains behind bars at the downtown jail at this time.
