Portland, Beaverton police arrest man for bank robbery
A man has been arrested after allegedly demanding and receiving cash from a bank in Southwest Portland.
Brett William Martin, 51, was taken into custody "without incident" by Portland Police Bureau and Beaverton Police Department officers during a traffic stop at the intersection Southwest Beard Road and Turquoise Loop, according to a news release.
Police say Martin is the suspect in the robbery of Key Bank, 3515 S.W. Troy St., which occurred around 10:59 a.m. on Monday, April 22.
Bank employees told officers that a man entered the bank with a note demanding cash, and fled after receiving money.
Martin is being held at the downtown jail on a hold from the U.S. Marshals Service. A search of local court records turned up no previous convictions for Martin, except traffic infractions.
