Victim identified in fatal Powellhurst-Gilbert shooting
A man died after he was shot in Southeast Portland on Thursday night.
On Monday, May 13, police identified the victim as 40-year-old Kegan K. Thompson.
According to police, shortly before 10:30 p.m. on May 9, East Precinct officers arrived on the scene near Southeast 104th Avenue and Holgate Boulevard and found a man, later identified as Thompson, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but later died.
The Gun Violence Reduction Team responded to assist precinct officers with their investigation. They looked for a suspect for over an hour, but as of Friday morning, no one is in custody.
Police have not said what led up to the shooting.
Southeast Holgate was closed for hours for the investigation, but reopened around 5 a.m. Police say the investigation continues.
