Dog shot while on walk near Grant High at Marshall campus
Portland police say a dog was wounded by gunfire while on a walk with their owner at the temporary Grant High School campus.
East Precinct officers responded to the Marshall campus, 3905 S.E. 91st Ave., which is hosting Grant High School students during renovations, around 10:35 p.m. on Friday, May 10, according to a news release.
Police say the owner of the dog, later identified as a hound, may have been "exercising" the pet when an unknown suspect fired multiple shots at the dog.
Police arrived and spoke with a custodian, who said the owner of the dog reported the shooting to him, then left. Officers located the dog and owner at a nearby animal hospital, where the hound was being treated for gunfire injuries.
"It's not clear if the injuries are life threatening," police say. The investigation continues.
