Victim said group of 20 teenagers assaulted them after argument for no reason

KOIN 6 NEWS - Two teenagers were hospitalized after the say they were attacked by a mob in Gresham. Two Gresham teenagers said they're lucky to be alive after they were followed and beaten by a group in downtown Gresham Friday night, May 10.

The victims described their attackers as a group of 15 boys and five girls, ranging in age from teenagers to young adults.

According to the Gresham Police Department, Corrine Beck and her boyfriend Logan Dewall were walking through Main City Park when Beck made an inappropriate remark to another girl that sparked an argument. After a while, the couple tried to leave the area.

"We kept walking up the hill and they followed us up there, and they kept saying 'Do you want to fight, do you want to fight?'" Beck told KOIN 6 News, Pamplin Media Group's news partner. "And I said, 'No I don't want to fight.'"

Police said the fight began with Beck getting punched in the face by the skate park.

"He turned around and socked me in the face," Beck said. "He socked me in the face and I fell into the bush and then the girl socked me in the face while I was falling down."

Beck said that Dewall stepped in to protect her, and was brutally beaten. Police said Dewall was thrown to the ground and hit his head.

"I thought he was going to die," Beck said. "I was more worried about him than myself."

Beck ran into the street, yelling for people to help. Several witnesses saw the attack, including Alexandria Kehoe and her husband who saw the blood.

"I've never seen anything like that," Kehoe said. "It was like a pack of children attacking these kids and it was shocking to say the least."

Dewall's mother, Anna Morris, arrived as EMTs were loading him into an ambulance.

"I've never been so scared, angry, shocked in my life," Morris said. "You have to be your child's advocate and we will continue to fight this to the very end … this should not have happened to him."

Beck said she suffered a broken nose and facial fracture, while Dewall has a broken skull, concussion, fractured rib and broken nose. To support their medical costs, visit their GoFundMe at here.

Gresham police would like to speak with anyone that witnessed the fight. Numerous people have already stepped forward, and officers are working on identifying the attackers. Police said the four primary suspects are all juveniles.

The police department has not received any other reports of groups of juveniles attacking people. They have scheduled extra patrols stopping by the skate park and Main City Park to ensure it is safe for everyone.
