One wounded in exchange of gunfire
One person was wounded in an exchange of gunfire in Southeast Portland early Sunday.
The names of the victim was not immediately released.
No suspect information was immediately released, either.
According to police, at 4:15 a.m. on May 26, East Precinct officers responded to a report of shots heard in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 400 block of Southeast 111th Avenue. A short time later, other calls came in of shots heard near Southeast 105th Avenue and Southeast Pine Street.
As officers were responding to the calls, a person with a gunshot wound arrived by private vehicle at a local hospital.
Officers located two crime scenes where there was evidence of gunfire and secured the scenes. They also made contact with the victim at the hospital.
The Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT) responded to assume the investigation. They determined that there was an exchange of gunfire at the original location on Southeast 111th Avenue, and that multiple vehicles left the scene before police arrived. They're working to see if the other shooting scene on Southeast 105th Avenue was related. At the 105th scene they located two unrelated, parked vehicles with gunfire damage.
The injuries to the victim were determined to be non-life threatening.
