Two people were arrested after Portland Police says it responded to reports of gunfire inside an occupied vehicle.
North Precinct officers responded to the 5500 block of Northeast 48th Avenue around 9:22 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, following reports of a "single shot" fired inside a car. A witness told police the vehicle was then seen traveling westbound on Northeast Killingsworth Street.
Police say they found the vehicle nearby and pulled it over.
"Two people in the vehicle were arrested and two firearms were recovered," according to a news release. "A single bullet hole was located in the roof of the vehicle."
There were no injuries during the incident.
Marquise Djuan Brazile, 18, was arrested for suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of possession of a loaded firearm and fourth-degree assault.
Calvin Jerome Jackson, 18, was also charged with unlawful possession.
The Multnomah County District Attorney's declined to prosecute either case. Jackson has been released from the downtown jail.
Brazile was charged with felony assault on a public safety officer on Sunday. He remains inside the downtown jail.
The Gun Violence Reduction Team assisted in the investigation.
