The Portland Police Bureau needs the public's help in identifying a suspect who allegedly started a fire in a local apartment complex.
Officers responded to the Northwest Portland fire around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, according to a news release.
Authorities say the man set fire to an "item of clothing" in a stairwell, sparking flames. No injuries were reported, however.
"Investigators do not believe that the suspect was a tenant but may have been a visitor," Crime Stoppers of Oregon reports.
The suspect is described as a black man wearing a green shirt, black pants and a white baseball hat with the label "Worldwide" on the front. The man was last seen wearing large headphones and appears to have tattoos or scars on his right upper arm.
Images from surveillance video show the man taking off his shirt and presumably lighting it with a cigarette.
Crime Stoppers of Oregon offers up to $2,500 in cash for tips or information. Submit here.
