Happy Valley celebrates opening of new park
Over 400 neighbors, community members and project partners came together on June 22 in Happy Valley to celebrate the opening of Hidden Falls Nature Park.
During the event, North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony, RecMobile games and crafts for kids, bluegrass music, food carts and a dessert table with pie provided by New Seasons Market.
NCPRD collaborated with Icon Construction on the $2.9 million park project. Icon donated an estimated $1.2 million in value, while NCPRD funds for the project totaled about $1.7 million, funded largely out of building fees for the developer's nearby 50-home subdivision. County officials said they worked for many years with Icon Construction to identify funding sources to make the complex development and preservation project come together.
