Police ask the public to help find a man who ran from a traffic stop with a gun Saturday evening

KOIN 6 NEWS - A screen shot of the KOIN 6 News story about the Saturday police search for an armed suspect.A search for an armed man who ran from a traffic stop in Southeast Portland on Saturday night continued Sunday after police failed to find him.

The suspect is described a black man about 6-feet tall, 150 pounds, and last seen wearing light blue jeans and red shoes and holding a silver handgun.

The suspect escaped, despite a police perimeter being set up around the area where he was last seen.

Police detained a second man in the car. He was not immediately identified.

According to police, perimeter was set up between Southeast Steele and Liebe streets, and Southeast 87th and 88th evenies shortly after 7 p.m. on July 13. The Portland Police Special Emergency Reaction Team responded to assist with the search. It was discontinued around 11:15 p.m. without finding the suspect, however.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
