Police did not immediately release the cause of death of the man in the rhino habitat construction area.

Police said the body of 62-year-old Carl Stanley Ross Sr. was discovered at about 9:49 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, near a construction site at the zoo. Ross was reported missing on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Central Precinct Officers responded Monday morning to the zoo on Southwest Canyon Road after a body was found near the new rhino habitat. No animals were in the area during construction.

The state medical examiner is assisting with the investigation. No information was provided about how Ross died or why he was at the zoo construction site.
