MAX changes will enable commuters to connect with WES rail service between Beaverton and Wilsonville.

FILE PHOTO - All MAX trains originally ran east and west through Downtown Portland. TriMet, the regional public transit agency, has announced changes affecting many riders.

The changes take effect Sunday, Sept. 1.

MAX Blue and Red Line light-rail trains will run two minutes later to enable commuters to connect more easily with the Westside Express Service (WES), which serves Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin and Wilsonville via the Portland & Western Railroad. The lines intersect at Beaverton Transit Center.

Commuters are advised to check new schedules here.

TriMet announced those and other changes as part of its expansion of service made possible through 2017 legislation, which among other things imposes a statewide payroll tax to pay for public transit projects and service.
