Police investigating two Sunday shootings
Police are investigating two early Sunday shootings.
Neither victim was immediately identified. No suspect information was immediately released, either.
In the first investigation, North Precinct officers responded to the area of Northeast Alberta Street and Northeast 12th Avenue on reports of shots in the area at 3:27 a.m. on Aug. 25. When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital by ambulance with an injury that is believed to be non-life threatening.
Preliminary information suggests the shooting happened after an altercation. The suspect or suspects left the area before police arrived.
Officers secured the crime scene and the Portland Police Bureau's Gun Violence Reduction Team responded to assume the investigation. Northeast Alberta Street was temporarily closed to all traffic between Northeast 12th Avenue and Northeast 13th Avenue.
Anyone with information about the shooting who has not been contacted by investigators is asked to call the non-emergency line at 503-823-3333 and reference case number 19-291752.
In the second investigation, East Precinct officers were dispatched to a motel in the 3600 block of Northeast 82nd Avenue on a report of shots fired at 3:58 a.m on Aug. 25. When officers arrived, they found evidence of gunfire and a victim with a graze wound. The victim was transported to a hospital by ambulance with a non-life threatening injury.
Officers secured the crime scene. The incident did not affect any traffic in the area.
The Gun Violence Reduction Team responded to assume the investigation. Investigators determined that a suspect fired the shots and then left before police arrived.
