Father grieves for 'inspirational' Portland fire victim
Portland police have identified the woman who died in a North Portland apartment blaze.
Sarah Oxenreider, 26, died in the hospital after the fire ignited around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1 in the 3900 block of North Albina Street. Homicide detectives and arson investigators continue to work the case.
Oxenreider had moved to Portland from Norman, Oklahoma, according to the town's local newspaper.
The Norman Register reports that Oxenreider suffered burns across 35% of her body, and was in a coma before she died.
"She was working at a drug and treatment rehab, she was sponsoring young alcoholics. She went out there with $200 in her pocket and didn't know a soul," her father, William Oxenreider, told the paper. "She was very inspirational to a lot of people."
