PPB: Man shoots tire during domestic disturbance
A man has been arrested for shooting the tire of a car during a reported instance of domestic violence, authorities say.
Henry Fitzgerald Edwards Jr., 28, now faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, coercion, two counts of strangulation, menacing, unlawful discharge of a gun, interfering with the making of a police report and second- and third-degree criminal mischief.
East Precinct officers responded to a disturbance around 2:36 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, where they learned that a man and a woman had been fighting. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot and seeing a vehicle leave the scene.
Police say they stopped the car and arrested Edwards. "During the investigation, officers determined that during an argument, Edwards fired a gun at the tire of the victim's vehicle, flattening it. They also learned he strangled the victim," according to a news release.
Edwards Jr. remains behind bars at Inverness Jail at this time.
