Portland Police Bureau says assault happened on West Burnside around 2:30 a.m. in downtown area.

Central Precinct officers responded to a parking lot in the 300 block of West Burnside Street around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, police said in a news release on Monday.

When they arrived, officers said they located three victims who had been assaulted by a "group that had left." One of the victims reported being transgendered.

The incident is being investigated as a bias crime, which is the technical term for crimes that target a person's race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin or gender identity.
