Police name victim in fatal Saturday crash
Portland police have identified the victim in the fatal single-vehicle crash in Pleasant Valley on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Nazariy V. Senchuk, 23, of Portland died at the scene.
East Precinct officers were dispatched at 5:20 p.m. to the 12900 block of Southeast Flavel Street, where they located vehicle crashed into multiple trees. The driver and only occupant was found outside of the vehicle and died at the scene. Medical crews also responded and confirmed that the driver was dead.
The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team led the investigation. They determined that the vehicle, a 2012 Volkswagon Jetta, was traveling westbound on Flavel when it crossed over the dividing line, left the roadway and struck the trees at what appears to be a high rate of speed. The driver was either ejected or fell out after the crash.
This is the 49th call out for the crash team and the 42nd fatal crash in the city of Portland in 2019.
