Kealiher's mother calls for media blackout to squash rumors
"I am requesting that no one give statements to the media or make public statements regarding my son's death," Laura Kealiher told reporters. "They just fuel the rumor mill, which everyone close to Sean has had to suffer through."
Laura Kealiher also called on the public to stop scrawling messages on the walls of the Democratic Party of Oregon offices, 232 N.E. Ninth Ave., or on social media. She said a memorial potluck is planned on Saturday, Oct. 26, at noon at Chapman Square, 210 S.W. Main St.
Brad Martin, executive director of the Democratic Party of Oregon, said the party would work with the Western States Center and volunteer professional painters to restore some portions of their office headquarters. He didn't issue a specific timeline for the cleanup, but said it may happen in phases.
"We want to be very respectful," he said. "We know folks are mourning."
