The sale of the Southwest Portland dairy means the series will not return after 26 years

KOIN 6 NEWS - An Alpensrose ball field during the Little League World Series.Alpenrose Field, which has hosted the Little League Softball World Series for the last 26 years, will not host the tournament next year.

The CEO of Little League International revealed the decision in an email to league officials on Wednesday.

He cited a longtime relationship with a member of the Alpenrose family who opposed the sale as the reason for pulling out.

This comes two days after Smith Brothers Farms officially took over Alpenrose Dairy. However, the more than 50 acres of land on Shattuck Road will remain with the current ownership and Smith Brothers will lease the part of the property that includes dairy operations.
