Local meteorologists hope to answer those questions at the 27th annual Winter Weather Forecast Conference, hosted Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. The conference begins at 9 a.m. at the museum, 1945 S.E. Water Ave.

Each fall, the Oregon chapter of the American Meteorological Society hosts the annual event to discuss what Pacific Northwesterners can expect from winter. Clifford Mass, a University of Washington professor of atmospheric sciences, opens the conference. Mass is author of the book, "Weather in the Pacific Northwest."
