More hazardous conditions are predicted in the Columbia Gorge on Sunday and early next week

KOIN 6 NEWS - Light snow falling in the Bethany area of Washington County overnightThe Portland area escaped serious snow and ice problems overnight.

Although the first batch of snow in the metro area fell late Saturday and early Sunday, a loft of warmer air moved in during the overnight hours, melting it.

By 5 a.m. on Dec. 1, the air temperature in Portland was 39 degrees. The moisture changed from snow to light rain, though the possibility of freezing rain continues near the western edge of the Columbia River Gorge through Sunday and in the western hills.

TriMet said all buses and trains were on regular weekend schedules on Sunday.

The KOIN 6 Weather Team said light snow is still possible for Portland but the likelihood of accumulation is small. There is higher confidence for snow from Cascade Locks to the east with totals around 2 to 5 inches. This will be more of a Gorge event before the Valley.
