Portland Wizard World: To Boldly Go Where No Canby Editor Has Gone Before
Upon hearing that Wizard World comic book convention would be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Oregon Convention Center, John Baker, mild-mannered editor of the Canby Herald, changed into his costume and attended to ward off evil. Meanwhile, erstwhile but clueless Dana Haynes, editor of the Portland Tribune, was stuck wrestling with captions. Unlike Baker, Haynes had never been bitten by a radioactive nerd and did not know most of the characters in the photos. Despite this, the heroic duo did their best to nerd-out.
Wizard World continues through Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Convention Center, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Go to the Wizard website for more information. Crimson Bands of Cyttorak sold separately.
