Pedestrian killed by suspected DUII driver
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver in Southwest Portland early Tuesday.
The victim in a fatal car crash on Barbur Boulevard in the first minutes of Saint Patrick's Day has been identified as 39-year-old Iulia Hanczarek.
Ivan Cam, 30, was arrested and booked into Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, and manslaughter II.
according to police, at about 12:40 a.m. on March 17, Central Precinct officers were dispatched to a single car crash in the area of Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Southwest Parkhill Drive.
When officers arrived, they were contacted by the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Ivan Cam, who told the officers he hit a pedestrian and he thought the pedestrian was deceased.
Officers located a pedestrian laying in the middle of the road, who was deceased.
The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team responded to conduct the crash investigation. Cam stayed at the location and cooperated with the investigators.
