Pawn shop manager shot dead on 82nd, no arrests made yet
Portland Police have made no arrests after a man was shot dead in a pawn shop's parking lot in the South Tabor neighborhood on Monday, March 30.
Homicide detectives have ID'd the dead man as 31 year-old Benjamin Taylor Johnson, killed by a gunshot wound at around 3 p.m. on Monday at the shared parking lot for WinCo, a pizza joint, and other businesses in the 3300 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue
"The suspect ran away before police were notified," authorities say.
No suspect info has been released by detectives, and they and the forensic evidence division continue to investigate.
Johnson worked as the manager at USA Pawn & Jewelry at 8001 S.E. Powell Blvd., according to The Oregonian/OregonLive..
"It's my understanding somebody was trying to steal something from the store and he wasn't going to have that," Johnson's older sister, Abbey Johnson, told the paper.
