Officers said all six people inside the vehicle ran from the scene on Tuesday but were caught

KOIN 6 NEWS - The Portland Police Bureau set up its Mobile Command Center in the Richmond Neighborhood as authorities searched for armed suspects who fled from a traffic stop. After an hours-long search involving a SERT unit and crisis negotiators, authorities arrested all six people who ran from a traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon in Southeast Portland.

The April 7 incident unfolded when the the Portland Police Bureau's Gun Violence Reduction Team made a traffic stop in the Richmond neighborhood. The officers were following up on a shooting that happened on Monday, PPB spokeswoman Lt. Tina Jones said.

Officers said all six people inside the vehicle ran from the scene; four of them were caught and detained but two others got away.

Residents in the area of Southeast 31st to 36rd avenues from Southeast Tibbetts to Woodward streets were asked to stay inside for hours starting at about 5 p.m.

Both suspects were caught later Tuesday evening within the perimeter established by police, Jones said.

The Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded because the two suspects were thought to be armed, police said.

If any property owners in the area see items that don't belong there, they're asked to call the PPB at 503-823-3333. It's unclear if any firearms were found on any of the suspects.

The suspects' identities and charges are expected to be released on Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing.
