Police investigating shooting where wounded man went the hospital on his own

PMG FILE PHOTO - Portland police vehicles.A man was wounded in a late Monday night shooting in East Portland.

The victim's name and condition was not immediately released.

According to police, at 11:58 p.m. on May 24, East Precinct officers responded to the 12100 block of Southeast Holgate Boulevard on reports that shots were fired in the area.

Officers secured the crime scene and the Gun Violence Reduction Team responded to assist in the investigation.

Investigators learned that an adult male who had been shot in the area went went to a nearby hospital on his own. Police say that given the circumstances of the incident, there is no threat to the community.

The PIO is not responding to the scene.
