Driver dies after being ejected from car in crash
A driver was killed Sunday evening after being ejected from a car in a crash in Southeast Portland.
The name of the victim was not immediately released.
According to police, at 8:57 p.m. on June 7, East Precinct Officers responded to the area of Southeast Mt. Scott Boulevard near Southeast Knapp Street on reports of an injury accident. The driver was confirmed to be deceased at the scene.
Responding officers learned that a vehicle traveling northbound on Southeast 92nd Avenue rear-ended a vehicle at Southeast Flavel Street. The vehicle continued on eastbound Mt. Scott Boulevard at a high rate of speed. As it neared Southeast Knapp Street, the vehicle struck a guard rail, causing the driver to be ejected through the driver's side window.
The Major Crash Team responded to assist in the fatal traffic crash investigation.
This crash was at least the 19th traffic fatality of the year in Portland.
