Patient rushed to a hospital in serious condition after he was found face down in the Clackamas River.

Clackamas Fire spokesman Brandon Paxton said bystanders pulled the unconscious man out of the water and started CPR before firefighters arrived at about 6:45 p.m. First responders started advanced life support, and the man was transported by a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office boat less than a mile away to Clackamette Park.

"The patient was transferred to a waiting American Medical Response ambulance where he was transported to an area hosptial," Paxton said. "It is not known at this time what caused the individual to be unconscious in the water."

Clackamas County Swift Water Rescue Consortium's specialized rescue units throughout Clackamas County, included Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Gladstone Fire, assisted with the rescue.
