The bridge is included in the top 100 project considered for the CODA People's Choice award by CodaWorx, an online platform connecting artists, designers and fabricators with municipalities and developers. A jury selected the top 100 projects from across the nation that integrate commissioned art into an interior, architectural or public space.
Voting on the projects concludes at midnight Tuesday, June 30. Winners will be announced Aug. 30. Portland's Barbara Walker Crossing has received nearly 2,000 votes since the contest began on June 18.
The bridge's project team included artist Ed Carpenter, KPFF Engineers and Portland landscape architects Nathan Kappen and Walker/Macy. It is made of welded and painted CorTen steel with a fiberglass deck grating and stone paving at the north end.
