Meals on Wheels People asking for fans to keep seniors cool
As temperatures rise, many homebound seniors are struggling to keep cool in houses that have no fans or air conditioning.
Meals on Wheels People is asking for donations of new or gently used fans to help keep homebound seniors cool and healthy as temperatures continue to rise.
"Each year, citizens from throughout the greater Portland-Vancouver area respond to this need by donating fans to help keep frail elderly neighbors comfortable during the summer heat," said the nonprofit in a press release on Wednesday, July 22.
Fans can be brought to the Meals on Wheels People central office from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 7710 S.W. 31st Ave. in Portland. The office is open Monday through Thursday.
Some neighborhood dining centers may also accept fan donations, added the organization in the statement.
