Thirteen employees of the Swire Coca-Cola facility in Wilsonville have contracted COVID-19, according to the Oregon Health Authority.
Carl Foster, the company's director of communications, said via email that Swire Coca-Cola has 600 employees at its Wilsonville facility and that those who contracted the virus span across departments including sales, production and distribution. Foster said that some are under the care of healthcare providers and that all employees who tested positive are expected to return to work following a quarantine.
"Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted by COVID-19. At this challenging time, the health and safety of our employees and communities is our biggest focus and highest priority," Foster wrote.
Foster said the Wilsonville facility closed for one day so that it could be thoroughly cleaned following the positive tests. The health authority said in its weekly report that the first positive case was reported July 25 and the most recent case was reported July 30.
Foster also said employees have undergone additional training since cases were discovered.
"The stringent processes we have in place to protect our employees — social distancing, PPE, symptom checks, wellness monitoring — have been the focus of additional training sessions to ensure the health and safety of our employees," he wrote.
The other Wilsonville business that recently reported COVID-19 cases is Classic Manufacturing. That business reported five cases July 28.
