Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded at 7 p.m. to the Commons at Timber Creek Apartments located at 12450 N.W. Barnes Road after several people called to report hearing fighting and gunshots outside an apartment, the Sheriff's Office said in a statement Saturday morning.

When deputies arrived, they found several spent bullet casings outside of an apartment.

A deputy located at a local hospital on an unrelated incident learned at the same time that a gunshot victim had arrived at the emergency department.

"The deputy quickly determined that the gunshot victim, a 22-year-old man, was a resident at the Commons at Timber Creek Apartments," the Sheriff's Office said. "The victim has non-life-threatening injuries and is stable."

Detectives from the county's Violent Crimes Unit are leading the investigation, which is in its early stages, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division and investigators from the county's Westside Interagency Narcotics Team are assisting with the investigation.

No suspect information has been released.

Investigators don't believe there's a danger to the public, the Sheriff's Office said.
