Ballot returns soaring in Multnomah County and Oregon
General election ballots are flooding back to the Multnomah County Election Division.
According to elections officials, 56% of ballots had been returned to the division by Wednesday, Oct. 28. That includes ballots returned by mail, deposited in secure drop boxes, and brought to the elections offices in Portland and Gresham.
That compares to 36% at the same time during the 2016 general election, the last election with a presidential race like this year.
Ballots are also being returned at a high rate across the state. According to Oregon election offices, 52% of statewide ballots had been returned by Wednesday. That compares to 36% statewide at the same time in 2016.
Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 3. A list of secure ballot drop boxes can be found here.
